A lighter yarding of 388 head were presented to buyers at the Wangaratta Livestock Exchange. This was 87 less than last week and comprised of 351 young cattle, 36 cows & 1 bulls.
Quality overall was not up to that of last week with fewer grown steers penned. The heifers on offer were secondary in quality and the vealers were principally lightweights. The 36 cows on offer were mainly heavy cow and in good condition. The grown steers sold to an easier trend to be 2 to 4 cents cheaper. Heifers were also in buyers favour by 5 cents. Vealers also eased in value by 5 cents. The 36 cows met strong demand to be 5 cents above last week’s rates.
