A better-quality yarding of 456 head were presented to buyers at the Wangaratta Livestock Exchange. This was 148 more than last week and comprised of 438 young cattle, 13 cows and 5 bulls.
Overall quality was much improved although heavy cattle were in short supply, the bulk of the offering were grass fattened yearlings and milk vealers of good quality. Only 13 cows were on offer.
Demand was stronger for all classes with the grown steers and heifers 5 cents above last week. The grass fattened yearlings and milk vealers were fully 10 cents above the improved rates of last week. Only 13 cows were penned, and these were fully 10 cents dearer.
